Apparent fireworks incident startles ’Bula neighborhoodBy: Star Beacon ASHTABULA — Neighbors stood in front of their homes Thursday afternoon as police chased up and down Seymour Drive following an apparent “fireworks incident”.
“We got a report of an explosion,” said Ashtabula Fire Chief Ron Pristera. He said early indications point to fireworks as the culprit. Numerous Ashtabula police officers and Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrived on the scene as fire officials waved neighbors out of the area. Neighbors said they heard a loud explosion and saw people running. The occupants of several homes were asked to leave their houses while police and firefighters investigated the incident, neighbors said. Police questioned a variety of people at the scene and put at least one in a police car relating to a “fire works complaint.” The incident was still under investigation at press time. |
